The Soundlens 110 is the Premium invisible product from Starkey
The Starkey Soundlens 110 iic (Invisible In The Canal) is the smallest, most invisible custom hearing aid available to date. SoundLens are the first and most popular custom-fit Invisible-in-the-Canal (IIC) hearing aids ever made. With a custom fit, they’re moulded to your unique ear canal for all-day comfort. And they’re invisible-in-the-canal, which means they fit deep inside your ear where no one can see them. SoundLens fit comfortably inside the second bend of your ear canal — out of sight. But don’t be fooled by their small size. SoundLens also come packed with Starkey’s innovative hearing aid features. These include the industry’s most proven feedback canceller, and a noise reduction and speech preservation system, Voice IQ2 that’s designed to help you hear clearly and easily, even in noisy environments like restaurants. Voice IQ2 works so fast, it can cut down background noise between words and even between syllables, maintaining the clarity of the conversation you want to hear.
As soon as I say the words "16 channels" I can usually see most people's eyes glazing over. It's like on the adverts when they say "Now here comes the science bit", but please keep reading and I'll explain why it's important. It won't take a minite... The channels in a hearing aid processor are like keys on a piano keyboard. All manufacturers' hearing aids , with a few notable exceptions, have roughly the same range of pitch, from low pitch (bass) to high pitch (treble), in order to accurately reproduce the human speech range. The width of the piano keyboard in this analogy equates to the human speech range. The more keys we have on the keyboard, the narrower each key, and the more accurately we can fine tune the hearing aid to correct your hearing loss to clearly hear what you want to hear. Having 16 channels means that the Soundlens 110 can accurately distinguish between speech and background noise and zap the background noise without affecting speech. The Soundlens 110 monitors each of its 16 channels (or piano keys) and detects whether each channel contains speech or background noise. If it's speech, it gets amplified to a level that you need, according to your hearing test results. If it's background noise, it gets turned down. That's how noise reduction works, on the whole, and the more channels, the more accurate and therefore the stronger the noise reduction. One thing that sets the Starkey noise reduction technology apart from other manufacturers is that it uses Voice IQ2 - a technology that is so fast, it can turn background noise down between words, and even between syllables without affecting speech clarity at all.
